      Scabies is a skin infestation caused by a tiny mite that burrows under the skin and lays eggs. It causes an itchy rash that looks like small blisters or pimples. The rash may include bumps that form a straight line or tunnel just under the skin. In many cases, the rash is in skin folds, such as in the armpit or groin but in other cases it’s widespread. Sometimes, there is itching but no rash. The mites themselves cannot usually seen be seen well by the naked eye as they appear only as tiny black dots. However, the mites can be readily identified under a microscope.
