  2. Change your default search engine

    • Keeping Bing as your default search engine provides an enhanced search experience in the new Microsoft Edge Edge logo, including direct links to Windows 10 apps, relevant suggestions from your organization if you’re signed in with a work or school account, and instant answers to questions about Windows 10. However, you can change the default search engine in Microsoft Edge to any site that uses OpenSearch technology.
      1
In Microsoft Edge, perform a search in the address bar using the search engine you want to set as your default.
      2
Select Settings and more Three-dot More icon > Settings Gear-shaped Settings icon
      3
      Select Privacy and services.
      4
Scroll all the way down to the Services section and select Address bar.
      5
Choose your preferred search engine from the Search engine used in the address bar menu.
    • To add a different search engine, perform a search in the address bar using that search engine (or a website that supports search, like a wiki site). Then go to Settings and more Three-dot More icon > Settings Gear-shaped Settings icon > Privacy and services > Address bar. The engine or website you used to search will now appear in the list of options you can select.

What are the best search engines?Search engines are online tools that allow users to search for content on the internet. Google is the most popular. But many other search sites and apps get millions of visits each month. Explore our list of the best search engines in the world (grouped by type, in no particular order). Or jump straight to our search engine FAQs. 1. Google
What search engine does Google use?Google can search for news, images, videos and scholarly articles. Users can also upload images to Google Lens to find matching results. In May 2023, Google announced that it would experiment with generative AI-assisted search with its Search Generative Experience. Launched in 2009, Bing is the second most popular search engine.
Do search engines search the entire web?Search engines don't search the entire web. There are massive portions of the web that aren't crawlable by a search engine, and they're collectively known as the invisible/deep web. A search engine finds web pages on its own, so you don't usually need to tell it to index your website or to add a particular page to its database.
How do I use a search engine?Web browsers can point you directly to a search engine from the address bar at the top of the app. Just enter something there to see the results. However, while only one search tool is used via that method, you can always visit the site directly yourself (e.g., go to Startpage's home page if you want to use that site).
