Unlike my native oaks which generate roots and pause through the winter, these sprouted pretty much right away! I kept them warm and under lights all winter and moved into grow bags and out into full sun in the spring.

I would thin out shoots where there's a cluster. Too many shoots close together can cause local thickening and inverse taper pretty quick.
