I love the presentation of timely articles that reflect my priorities for news consumption. I appreciate the suggested additional articles presented at the bottom of each story I read, which often leads to greater understanding of a particular topic or issue, or leads me to new relevant information. For example, if I am reading about the highest rated movies on Netflix, I often am presented articles about the best movies on Disney+, etc. Or if I am reading a story about, say the FBI raid in Mar-a-lago, I will be presented with op/ed pieces, as well as articles relevant to the topic, such as threats to the FBI in the aftermath. I love the magazine selection that is available, such as Newsweek and Time which expands the range and depth of suggested articles. Many articles have embedded. Hyperlinks to past referenced material, too! My only big complaint is that I often like to read at bedtime, in the dark, with the brightness turned very low. The color of the hyperlinks is either dark red or blue, which is often impossible to read when the surrounding text is white in a black background. I sometimes have to turn up the brightness to read them, which I hate doing. Sadly, the colors or style (such as underlined or bold text) is not user-selectable. I would love to see that changed.

CNN tells the whole story and mainly the story. All sides good or bad. Positive or negative for both major political parties and administrations. All sides of a story. Far right news channels spin in one direction and if that is all you watch you will be given a very skewed view of their far right reality. I watch all the major news channels and listen to XM radio in the car. It is amazing that fox on XM channel 115 “FOX headline News” is actually news but “FOX NEWS” on channel 114 is mostly opinion offered in a format to entertain and persuade right wing viewers. The opinions offered on XM FOX 114 are in one direction only. CNN is a NEWS channel that does interview people involved in the story and when opinions are given most of the time both sides of an opinion are explored. I have learned through my experience of 75 years that when someone has to begin a view by “constantly telling you their view is telling you the truth” you should take that view with a grain of salt and widen your news viewing to make an informed decision for yourself.

I really like the UI, the organisation and the simplicity. It’s a very pretty app and the best news app in that regard. For actually what matters though, News curation, you know the one thing this app is made for, is dreadful. It’s so bad it’s almost as if the buttons you press purposely do nothing. No matter how many times you press thumbs down for the things you are not interested in they will always be there. I have never read NME in my life, so why do I get a big feature that includes nothing but NME articles under the banner, ‘For You: Recommendations Based On What You Read’ like huh? There is no option to get rid of this. Also, much of the content I see is under ‘Suggested by Siri’ with a prompt to follow that content. Except if I wanted to follow it I would’ve done so on setup or the 90th you asked me. The ‘stop suggesting’ button does literally nothing in this case. Finally, when you block a channel, it will still show them but greyed out. There’s a reason I don’t want to see triggering articles. You would think a trillion dollar company could figure out how to exclude these articles or outlets from the feed altogether.

One of the very best news apps. I prefer reading the news to watching it--this app allows both, and does both well. The widget provides constantly updating headlines when other apps, like the New York Times, have totally abandoned their iOS headline widgets. You can read top stories, including excellent coverage of issues of specific importance to LGBTQ and ethnic minority communities, watch video clips or the entire NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt. Richard Engel's coverage of international news, especially Syria and Ukraine, is unparalleled. There are ads, but they're not intrusive at all, unlike so many other news sites and apps that have become unusable, and there's no paywall. In this era of fake news and alternative facts, this app is a bastion of quality journalism.

You’re the news juggernaut, AP!

I was originally using Apple News but then I decided I didn’t really want to pay an extra ten bucks a month when I can get all my day 2 day news from this app for FREE! I love how I can pick and choose the topics that interest me and get news feeds on it in real time. Don’t get me wrong I liked the idea of using Apple News as my main goal is to integrate all my stuff over to Apples ecosystem but I feel that 10 bucks a month for News nowadays is just asking a bit too much when people have so many other avenues they can go down which are either cheaper or in this case completely free. I will stick with my Google News for the time being as it gets the job done and it does it in style plus when someone is looking for anything what’s the term they tend to use??? Oh yeah! That’s right! They say “let me Google that” lol
