Is voice hoarseness associated with myasthenia gravis?
Myasthenia Gravis is an acquired autoimmune disease in which the body attacks the receptors that communicate between neurons and muscles, thus preventing the conduction of the nervous impulse to the effective muscles and thus causing weakness and disturbance of movement. Since myasthenia gravis is a disease of the neuromuscular junction, basically pursues with motor changes and can affect any structures containing skeletal muscles. Thus, it is possible that a patient with myasthenia gravis can develop both voice changes and swallowing disorders associated with the disease. However, these are not expected to be the only signs and symptoms of the disease, usually evolving with muscle weakness and fatigue.
