One of my top used apps since moving to find new places and restaurants, and essential for driving or traveling to new places, but recently the ability to control music has been greatly reduced. You used to be able to tap the music or audio player below the map view and be able to go back, pause/play, or skip to the next song. Recently, this menu feature was completely removed and when tapping music in maps, it minimizes the map to PIP mode and shows the music app. This is a feature removal...

Two things: First, you need to have a pause button on Google Maps so that when somebody wants to go to the restroom, Miss Yip Yap isn’t busy telling them to go north, south, east, and west within 30 seconds trying to get them back on the track. Second, for heaven sake‘s, quit rerouting me without my permission. The selection needs to be “tap to accept,” not “accept unless I tell you no thanks.” At least 10 times in the last 10,000 miles, I have had to backtrack 20 or 30 miles to get to where I wanted to go instead of where you decided I should go. I’m hearing impaired; I don’t always hear Miss Yip Yap asking if I want to reroute, and I shouldn’t have to constantly go back and tell you that I want to go on the route I selected, and not the one you think I should use. If you don’t want to change the way the switches work, put in a selection in the settings that says “tap to accept” or “tap to decline.” I am beyond frustrated with having to hunt down on a map where I really want to be and how to get there, because invariably when I figure out Miss Yip Yap has rerouted me, I am in an area of no phone service, so I can’t reroute on Google Maps, because it says, “Off-line: touch to retry.”

The worst thing is getting to your saved places, I should be able to click on destination where you type, and have a drop down menu that opens saved places, instead I have to navigate the main menu. Then if you want to save a place you can't figure out how, because there's no simple button for it like there should be. I recommend transit app over this

This app used to be flawless but recent updates have just been rubbish. First the freezing in CarPlay and now when opening it’s there and can navigate around the screen but the actual map won’t load/show. To get it to actually show the map properly on the cars screen you (or at least I do) have to manually open the App on the phone which instantly makes the failed map appear, I can then close/lock the phone and put it to one side. After doing that it works fine. If I open the phone and close app on phone it closes on CarPlay. This is new in the last update, in the past when you opened this in CarPlay it would just work, no need to faff with the phone. If you opened the phone you wouldn’t even see that app open. It just worked like the other apps. And this is most definitely a google maps issue because every other CarPlay app works flawlessly as expected on the cars screen with no messing on the phone. Does anyone actually test these updates before release by the company or is it just fire it out and wait for complaints? Update: glad to see the latest version released 26 Sep 23 has resolved my issues regarding CarPlay.

Having the same problem with the new release now I have to turn the traffic every time I open the app. Pls fix 9/19 thx for fixing issue app back to being great again.

I hate this app, it never works. I have to go through the secure log in at least 3 times every time I try to use maps and then it will never load the map or list the directions. Extremely frustrating....It can't manage to show me a map but it sure manages to track every move I make otherwise. NOTHING BUT JUNK AND SPYWARE!! What a waste of time, almost makes me late whenever I try to use it because it WONT EVER LOAD wifi or cell, either way. I always end up having to find directions elsewhere.
