Florida law provides for five (5) different orders of protection against violent conduct. The five (5) different orders of protection are, 1) domestic violence; 2) repeat violence; 3) dating violence; 4) sexual violence and 5) stalking. An order of protection is more commonly known as a “restraining order.”

An injunction, more commonly known as a restraining order, is a legal document that stops a person from coming within a certain distance from you (First Judicial Court of Florida, 2011). This legal order is often used in cases of domestic violence, dating violence, and sexual violence to protect the victim from future harm.
