The five standard types of creation myths include: ex nihilo, in which the creation is by the thought or word of a supreme being; earth diver, in which the creation is by the diving of a small animal or object into the primordial waters or into the inchoate reality of the earth; emergence, in which the creation is by the introduction of the people and their apparent world onto the surface of the earth from an underworld; world parent, in which a supreme being creates the world through sexual generation, biological process creation, or a combination; and two creators from one source, in which the first single creator begets or creates two distinct creators, who, in turn, create or make the world.
