    You can use an utility function to convert from the familiar hexa string to a byte[]. When used to define a final static constant, the performance cost is irrelevant.

    Since Java 17

    There's now java.util.HexFormat which lets you do

    byte[] CDRIVES = HexFormat.of().parseHex("e04fd020ea3a6910a2d808002b30309d");

    This utility class lets you specify a format which is handy if you find other formats easier to read or when you're copy-pasting from a reference source:

    byte[] CDRIVES = HexFormat.ofDelimiter(":")

    What is an example of a byte?Each byte can hold a string of bits that need to be used in a larger unit for application purposes. As an example, a stream of bits can constitute a visual image for a program that displays images. Another example is a string of bits that constitute the machine code of a computer program.
    What is a byte used for?A byte is the unit most computers use to represent a character such as a letter, number or typographic symbol. Each byte can hold a string of bits that need to be used in a larger unit for application purposes. As an example, a stream of bits can constitute a visual image for a program that displays images.
    What is a byte in Computer Science?The string of bits making up a byte is processed as a unit by a computer; bytes are the smallest operable units of storage in computer technology. A byte can represent the equivalent of a single character, such as the letter B, a comma, or a percentage sign, or it can represent a number from 0 to 255.
    How many bits are in a byte?A byte is a unit of digital information that consists of 8 of those bits. Here's a single byte of information: Here are three more bytes of information: Conversion between bits and bytes is a simple calculation: divide by 8 to convert from bits to bytes or multiply by 8 to convert from bytes to bits. Try it yourself!
