By Drew Dorian Overview If you've had your eye on the Alfa Romeo Tonale but need something a bit more in your budget, the 2024 Dodge Hornet provides a nearly identical experience for far less money.

The Hornet may be the segment's rowdiest, most fun-loving entrant, but there's a price to be paid in terms of noticeable turbo lag and torque steer, a coarse engine note, less standard safety gear (adaptive cruise with lane keeping, standard on the Honda, Mazda, and others, adds $2,840 to the base GT), and of course 2-4 cubic feet less rear-seat space plus 9-26 fewer cubes of cargo space than the Honda and Mazda.
