Nov 15, 2010 · Back in the late 40's and early 50's we thought that the Wards "Lo-load" wagon chassis were the best for your money. IH and JD gears might have been a little better...but they cost a lot more. Putting a running gear under a silage wagon or using them to haul logs was the "acid test" for us.

Sep 6, 2019 · No useful info, but it's neat to hear that Kasten made a running gear. We ran a fleet of these Kasten/Gehl/IH boxes for 35 years, but none of them had a Kasten running gear. Unless maybe the Kasten gears were blue in color. I can't remember what the blue gear was. I know some were Electric, and the Gehls were Gehls.

Our gear only had 6 bolt wheels but it handled 10,000# loads of shell corn easily, and full loads of ear corn even heaped up above the tops of the 2 ft side boards.

Friday we were using it to move firewood we cut because my cousin had borrowed our piece of junk dump trailer to cut wood while she was off of work.
