Those statements concerning his "robotism" is exactly why I generally find him more compelling than Mello; he's a far more ominous character, whereas Mello is a bit predictable thanks to his emotional difficulties. I actually noticed that he had great success in the fandom, actually because of his style/mannerisms. Madonna made a music video (Jump) dressing like him and this success is still present today.

Considering that Mikami had the death note for about a few months and wrote about 40+ names in it everyday, it would have been IMPOSSIBLE to copy it perfectly.
